‘For All Students Who Need To Learn Differently ‘
Every child has the potential to do brilliantly in school
What people say about working with Dr. Naoisé O’Reilly
The Homework Club has been a unique journey impacting thousands of people since 2009. We set out to create a new learning environment for all students who ever arrived at our doors – we never had any limits on the age, background or learning potential of anyone.
In setting up The Homework Club, I always wanted to create an environment where we all continued to learn from the hugely committed tutors and the students needing support. I would like to think that everyone has expanded their horizons by being part of the experience.
In just 10 years we have not only helped and supported these students in their lives and education but we have taken our experiences to create two more projects to take all our dreams in.
‘One step closer to fulfilling a personal dream of mine – to make school a happier, creative, more successful and enjoyable place for all students, regardless of their differences,’ Dr. Naoisé O’Reilly.
In February 2009 I started a school, The Homework Club® as what I saw as my lab space in order to develop new teaching methods and understanding of learning. Since then through a number of projects these are the methods and theories that I have developed:
Purple Learning Project®: Understanding of setting up educational environments for all and working simultaneously with all learning styles, difficulties and conditions in the same room.
Purple Profiling™: Unique profiling methods to understand all learners and work effectively with them in the shortest time possible. Now expanded to all business employees and business situations. Focus is on success for each person.
Purple Development™: New development theory to understand patterns in education and to change the Educational Blueprint™. From this, a new approach to education and a new focus on expression was developed, Expression Developist™.
The Periodic Table of the Development of Results™, Purple Success™: New unique method and theory to understand the individual elements to get successful results with all ages and individuals in the shortest time possible. Applied at all levels in education and all sized companies, situations and individuals globally.
Purple Processing Scales™: Understanding the individual learning styles and how they work in different situations. Which has lead on to a theory, The Pressure Cooker Effect™.
Purple Success Timescale™: Theory of the development moments in individuals from Child to Adult and their significance in dealing with situations. How Successful You Feel for Life™.
Diffuse Focus™: A new theory of the reasons behind ADD and ADHD. How to develop a new learning approach to accommodate these.
Forget Phonics Reading Method™: A new approach to teaching reading specifically for individuals with dyslexia spectrum reading difficulties. Typically a student can now learn to read and write in 4 weeks.
Purple Empathy Creation®: Methods to Develop Empathy from Toddlers Upwards: Like our students, we are always moving forward and learning. I think the results we have had contradicted everything that has been understood about empathy. In particular, I see this as a way for students to grow and develop their personalities without social anxieties and labels such as Asperger’s Syndrome. I would predict that cases will never in future be given a diagnosis of Asperger’s. I never set out to “fix” people. It has always been about creating the best versions of themselves but in recent years, I have seen that our results mean that students no longer exhibit classically labeled conditions such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome or a whole host of other challenges. They move beyond these labels and recognizable challenges.
Purple Integration Programmes®: Methods to improve the lives of People living with Dyspraxia & Dyscalculia. Since the beginning with The Homework Club, we have worked very successfully with people with both of these conditions. But like everything else we have continued to refine and perfect our methods. Always striving to incorporate in the personality factors. We now have a very refined and successful formula to achieve results across the lives of these students, beyond just their academic results.
Purple Speech Paths®: New method to help with the development of speech in toddlers Over the last few months I have been working hard to develop and refine methods to help with speech difficulties from the ages of 18 months upwards. It has become obvious to me that this is a difficulty that is far more widespread that recognized and leads to a whole array of challenges behaviorally. Without communication we can often exhibit anger issues, frustration, tantrums, lack of confidence and don’t form proper social bonds within and outside of the family.
I have also put significant work into developing specific programs to get successful results with students with Aspergers. I have developed a number of new programs for specific school issues such as the Primary to Secondary school Transition, Expression Club™ for dyslexic learners to keep them on top over summer months, Dyslexia organisation workshop, Maths Orientation studies for Dyscalculia, Supporting students at home with Aspergers through homework and a Purple Pre-School Success™ program to start dyslexic spectrum students ahead in reading and writing before school. I have currently been putting a lot of work into developing new theories for working with students with Auditory Processing Disorders and Dysgraphia.
The Purple Learning Project which is an outreach Workshop project to bring all our proven learning methods back into all education environments with the inclusive education method we have devised here at The Homework Club.
One of the many reasons why Students attending The Homework Club become so successful is because of the awareness they have of their own Potential, Personality and Learning Style and how these affect their own educational success. Every Student at The Homework Club is set-up to work to their best abilities within the environment through an initial interview. The Confidence Club now offers this service to everybody.
In setting up The Homework Club there have been two main differences in Our approach to education. Firstly, the way we have gone about making education accessible to all of our learners. We have achieved this by using our own unique learning method – now known as The Purple Learning Project.
Secondly, we have always had different objectives and perceptions of what success is for students. We have always felt that not only are students always good at something but they should be able to use these talents to be good at everything. The Confidence Club is about allowing us to step away from the traditional expectations of success in education and allowing all our students to fulfill their dreams – no matter how crazy they may seem now.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us to date in our amazing work. Welcome to the next exciting stage of our journey in learning. We all love to learn. Dr. Naoisé O’Reilly Expression Developist™
